PERDAMAN INDUSTRIES (CHEMICAL & FERTILISERS)
Perdaman Industries (Chemicals & Fertilisers) and Associates has to date invested US$175 million to create and develop detailed engineering intellectual property for the transformation of coal to urea.
The company is striving and working hard to complete this project in the near future, which will see a total investment of $3.5 billion.
The plant will be located in Collie, Western Australia, and with a planned capacity of two million tonnes per annum, most of the urea produced by the plant will be exported.
Using clean coal gasification technology, Perdaman Industries (Chemicals & Fertilisers) will transform subbituminous coal into urea. Although coal gasification is new to Australia, it is already a proven technology in other parts of the world.
With an ever-growing global population, and therefore an ever-increasing demand for agricultural food products, there is a natural flow on effect for the requirement of fertiliser within the agricultural supply chain. In addition to helping improve agricultural output and the worldwide shortage of fertiliser, we will add value to Australia’s coal resources. Urea is safe and clean as well as being easily transported.
We expect to create approximately 200 permanent jobs at the plant, which will further stimulate the local economy.
With planned Urea production capacity of two million tonnes per annum, our plant is destined to be a world-scale facility with high operating efficiencies.
& THE ENVIRONMENT
Coal gasification consists of converting solid coal to synthetic gas (syngas), which is processed to remove contaminants and used as feedstock for synthesis of various chemical products such as ammonia or methanol.
Our plant will provide several raw materials and additional infrastructure to the region of Collie in Western Australia. This includes coal, water, land, power, rail logistics and road logistics.
