Western Australian of the Year Awards 2019

The Western Australian of the Year Awards, held during the WA Day long weekend, recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to our state by those born and bred in Western Australia, or those who have chosen to make Western Australia their home.

The Awards focus on celebrating excellence in business leadership, social entrepreneurship and innovation; making a positive difference to the vibrancy of our state through arts and culture; inspirational role models in the Aboriginal community; positive social, scientific and economic impact; achievement in sport; and improving the lives of Western Australians and the community as a whole.

Perdaman proudly sponsored the Business Award won by Dr. Erica Smyth AC, Chairman of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority. Hearty congratulations to her!

Environmental Scoping Document Public Review

Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers Pty Ltd (Perdaman) is proposing to establish a state of the art Urea Production Plant within the proposed Burrup Strategic Industrial Area, approximately 8 km from Dampier and 20 km north-west of Karratha on the north-west coastline of Western Australia (WA).

A draft Environmental Scoping Document (ESD) has been prepared by Cardno on behalf of Perdaman in accordance with Western Australian Government procedures and is released for public review.

The draft ESD sets out the preliminary key environmental factors and environmental information the Environmental Review Document must address.

Hard copies of the document may be purchased for $10 (including postage and packaging) or a USB version is available free of charge from:

The Hon. Kevin Michel and Perdaman Chairman visiting the Union office

Local member of the Pilbara Parliament, Kevin Michel, along with Perdaman Chairman, Vikas Rambal visited the Union office in the presence of the State Secretary, Steven McCartney. The purpose of this visit was to brief everyone about the development of the Perdaman Urea project and update the finalisation of the Union agreements.

Local member of the Pilbara Parliament, the Hon. Kevin Michel, visiting SNC-Lavalin office

We were pleased to welcome the Hon. Kevin Michel, a local member of the Pilbara Parliament, for a visit to SNC-Lavalin office for a briefing about Perdaman Urea project done by our Chairman, Mr Vikas Rambal and EPC contractors, Project Manager Enda Corcoran (SNC), Financial advisor Sean Vincent (EY) and Project Engineer Ishan Rambal (Perdaman).

The Perdaman team was able to show a 3D model of the project which is now finalised. The Hon, Kevin Michel, showed his appreciation towards the project development.

Final Design Alignment for the Perdaman Urea Project

Perdaman Chairman, Vikas Rambal, was glad to welcome Haldor Topsoe team from Denmark and Stamicarbon team from the Netherlands to successfully conduct the final design alignment. 

Perdaman thank and acknowledge both teams’ effort and work, the alignment of design meeting for the project was concluded by Perdaman Chairman.

Perdaman Urea Plant: Meeting with Haldor Topsoe and Stamicarbon

Perdaman Chairman was please to welcome technology suppliers for the urea plant in Karratha, Haldor Topsoe and Stamicarbon teams to discuss the final design review for each technology. 

The meeting held in Perth was successful, Perdaman looks forward to working together with each team for the success of the plant.

Perdaman acquires The Village at Margs Shopping Centre

Perdaman is pleased to advise that The Village at Margs shopping centre located in Margaret River is now part of the Perdaman Commercial Property Group portfolio.

Having acquired the shopping centre for more than $20million, Perdaman’s Chairman, Mr. Vikas Rambal welcomes the new addition to the Group’s portfolio, having always had a strong interest in supporting and investing in the local WA community.

Perdaman announces Major Project Facilitation status granted by the Australian Federal Government for the Karratha Urea Project

Today, Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers (Perdaman) can announce that its Karratha Urea Project has been granted Major Project Status by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Technology.

The Honourable Karen Andrews MP said that the project offers an opportunity to grow and diversify the Australian economy and contribute to the economic development of north Western Australia.

Perdaman’s Chairman, Mr Vikas Rambal, said that it was another positive step forward for the Project.

“Achieving Major Project Status shows the level of support that both the State and Federal Government are willing to provide for the Perdaman Karratha Urea Project and supports the significance that this Project will have to both industry innovation and economic growth.”

The Major Project Status will assist Perdaman with obtaining expedited Federal Government assistance and approvals for the Project through the Major Project Facilitation Agency.

Key highlights of the Perdaman Urea Project are as follow:

  • The project will create in excess of 2,000 direct jobs during the 3-year construction phase 
  • The project where possible will invest in the employment of local workforce, creating at least  200 full-time, permanent opportunities for residents to operate the plant on a non-fifo basis in Karratha
  • The plant will be Australia’s first urea export project supplying the growing Asia Pacific demand
  • Perdaman has invested US$200m into the project to date

Pharmaceuticals products launch by Sunrise International Labs

Last week, Sunrise International Labs, an international pharmaceutical manufacturing and exporting company part of the Perdaman group, held an event in Antananarivo (Madagascar) to launch 3 pharmaceuticals formulation products. 

The products were presented to a total of 35 doctors from cardiology and urology therapeutic segments. 

Among the new Sunrise products presented, the “TELE-AM product” (Telmisartan BP 40mg + Amlodipine 5mg Tablets) is currently the 2nd most used generic product in India.

AIM WA Pinnacle Awards Night

AIM WA Pinnacle Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of organisations with a significant footprint in Western Australia. Winners receive leadership and management training to the value of $20,000 to give to a charity of their choice. 

This year, Perdaman proudly sponsored the PERDAMAN Pinnacle Award for Workplace Diversity Excellence Award, recognising organisations that have excelled in promoting diversity in the workplace. Some of the key characteristics of workforce diversity may include race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, ability, and sexual orientation. In order to win the award, organisations had to include details of one or more major business initiatives, for example:

  • Initiatives that demonstrate that the organisation prioritises diversity and recognises the value of an inclusive workplace.
  • How diversity is driven and/or supported by the senior leadership team who demonstrate an inclusive workplace.
  • Programs that demonstrate a cultural change approach to diversity where principles are embedded in the DNA of the organisation.
